Mission

The Harvard Dermatology community is committed to expanding access to dermatologic care, ensuring that all members of our community are treated with fairness, professionalism, and respect. We strive to create an environment where all individuals can contribute, grow, and succeed, recognizing the importance of broad representation, mentorship, and outreach in advancing excellence in dermatology.

We are dedicated to continuous improvement in how we recruit, support, and develop future leaders in dermatology, fostering an environment that values collaboration and engagement across backgrounds, identities, and professional perspectives. Our shared commitment to respect, accountability, and community-building strengthens the foundation of our training program and the care we provide.

Experiencing Harvard Dermatology

Harvard Dermatology is more than a training program—it’s a supportive, dynamic environment where residents are encouraged to explore their passions and shape their own career paths. We believe that every member of our community should have the opportunity to flourish, grow, and lead in ways that align with their interests and aspirations.

With a wide breadth of rotations, electives, and specialty clinics, our program provides unmatched exposure to complex medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, laser and cosmetic dermatology, and more. Whether you’re drawn to cutting-edge research, health policy, global health, or medical education, Harvard Dermatology offers the resources, mentorship, and flexibility to pursue your goals.

Here, your training is only limited by your imagination—our faculty and program structure are designed to support your unique vision for your future in dermatology.

Living in the Boston Area

Boston is an incredible place to live and train, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and modern innovation. Most Harvard Dermatology residents choose to live in neighborhoods near the Longwood Medical Area or Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), such as Fenway, Brookline, Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, South End, Beacon Hill, and Cambridge. These areas provide easy access to our hospitals, vibrant communities, and a great quality of life.

Boston is known for its walkability and excellent public transportation, making it easy to explore the city’s world-class museums, theaters, music venues, and historic landmarks. Whether you’re a sports fan cheering on the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, or Patriots, a foodie enjoying the city’s flourishing restaurant scene, or someone who loves architecture and history, Boston has something for everyone.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Boston offers four distinct seasons, each bringing new ways to experience the city. Enjoy parks and river walks along the Charles River, hikes in the Blue Hills, and relaxing afternoons in the Boston Public Garden or Arnold Arboretum. Beaches in Cape Cod, the North Shore, and the South Shore are just a short drive away, and weekend trips to Salem, Portland (Maine), or the White Mountains offer endless opportunities for adventure.

Living in Boston means having access to everything you need—from grocery stores and farmers markets to art galleries and coffee shops—within a short walk or T ride. It’s a city that offers both the energy of an urban center and the charm of a New England town, making it a fantastic place to train, grow, and thrive.
